Signal Construction is delighted to announce that Planning Permission has been granted for an exciting new site in rural Northumberland.
This stunning new site in the village of Melkridge in Northumberland has been granted permission for eight new family homes. The new 4 and 5-bedroom properties have been carefully designed to cater to modern living, while also merging sensitively with the local heritage of the picturesque village setting.
Signal Construction will be the Principal Contractor on the scheme, which is due to kick off in 2025.
The new homes will be constructed using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and the principles of ‘passive design’ have been embraced to reduce energy demand in the finished houses.
The planned layout and orientation of the plots has been influenced by the existing southerly slope of the site, taking into account the solar orientation, views and approach to make the most of the landscape and natural daylight.
Thermal insulation and limiting air leakage, as well as the installation of photovoltaic panels, will be critical factors to reduce future energy usage and create a strong sustainable development. All the houses will also be fitted with electric car charging points as standard.
The proposed material palette takes its architectural cues from the neighbouring buildings, enhancing rather than detracting from the existing character of the village with the use of natural stone and timber cladding. Glass will be used to maximise the available daylight, with roofing materials such as slate and green roofing limiting water run-off and promoting biodiversity.
We can't wait to get started on this fantastic new scheme, which will bring much-needed quality family homes to a highly desirable North East location.
